The Heteronymous
During the spiritualist sessions of the 19th Century, when cinema was dawning, and by use of rudimentary photographic projection techniques, the spirits of the dead materialised over the thick smoke columns emerging from a censer. In this way, the heteronymous materialise the ghosts of the unconscious, manifesting as real artists with a biography and their own work.
Miguel Chicharro elaborates an introspective discourse with the intention of revealing…the inexpressible. Making visible the invisible. The alienation of the self and its separation into characters playing as if they were actors at the theatre of memory.
Having discovered his heteronomy since childhood, he will not integrate it consciously in his works until 1995. That is when he begins to use computers to elaborate a file library and use them as the main instruments for his artistic production.
The heteronymous are created to order this artistic production into differentiated file sections. Memories are communicated by subtle movements, acting as movable mirrors which on doing so, reflect and interact among themselves. A combinatorial game, where each one recognises himself by discovering the other. The limits are broken in a circular vertigo.
The production is not so much an object as an artistic subject. Several virtual artists, elaborate a virtual work, in a virtual space. If impressionism searched for the truth in a fleeting instant of nature, and expressionism tried to capture a mood in the artist, the heteronymous develop and extreme expressionism, where the sum of the masks reveal the truth of art.
